Bedside Telemetry Streaming & WebRTC Tele-Consultation Enclave

01 / The Problem

Disconnected ICU monitors. Fragile telehealth video. Strict HIPAA compliance audits looming.

Vitalis operates a network of regional intensive care facilities requiring specialized remote clinical consultations. Bedside medical hardware generated vital streams that had to be transmitted to off-site cardiologists and intensivists in real time.

Off-the-shelf video conferencing tools lacked end-to-end encryption guarantees, breached HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA) standards, and introduced noticeable audio/video desync during acute emergency consultations.

Vitalis partnered with Codedway to engineer a zero-trust clinical portal uniting real-time patient telemetry waveforms with encrypted peer-to-peer WebRTC video.

02 / Our Approach

Zero-trust encryption boundaries from sensor to screen.

Phase 01

BAA Enclave (Wk 1–3)

Architecting isolated AWS GovCloud/HIPAA VPC enclaves with KMS hardware key rotation.

// ENCLAVE_SEC
Phase 02

Telemetry Stream (Wk 4–8)

Building high-frequency ECG waveform serializer streaming over multiplexed TLS sockets.

// VITALS_PIPELINE
Phase 03

WebRTC Engine (Wk 9–12)

Deploying custom WebRTC SFU media nodes with ephemeral end-to-end encryption keys.

// WEBRTC_MEDIA
Phase 04

Audit & Cutover (Wk 13–16)

Passing third-party SOC2 Type II and HIPAA compliance penetration tests with zero findings.

// ZERO_DEFECTS
Codedway gave us a clinical video and telemetry platform that passed rigorous federal compliance scrutiny on the very first submission.

05 // ARCHITECTURAL DEEP DIVE & BENCHMARKS

Vitalis required an ultra-reliable, HIPAA-compliant patient monitoring and tele-consultation platform connecting ICU bedside equipment to remote specialists.

[METRIC_AUDIT]Security & Compliance

Operating in a strict zero-trust enclave, every telemetry packet is cryptographically encrypted at rest and in transit (AES-GCM-256) with complete audit trail provenance.

Clinical Requirements

  1. Strict Data Segregation: Zero-leakage multi-tenancy ensuring Protected Health Information (PHI) cannot cross organization boundaries.
  2. Real-time Vitals Streaming: Continuous ECG, SpO2, and pulse telemetry rendered at 60 FPS without UI jank or memory leaks.
  3. Emergency Failover: Redundant WebRTC signaling clusters capable of instant warm handover if an availability zone drops.

Delivery Highlights

  • Built a custom Next.js clinical dashboard with WebGL canvas rendering for patient vitals graphs.
  • Enforced end-to-end encryption with ephemeral key exchanges for all audio/video tele-health rooms.
  • Configured continuous compliance monitoring with automated vulnerability scans and immutable audit logging.
